Tree Removal in English Village

English Village is one of Amarillo's most distinctive historic neighborhoods, developed in the 1920s with Tudor Revival and English Cottage-style homes that give it an architectural character unlike anything else in the Panhandle. The neighborhood sits in central Amarillo and is tightly platted with small lots and mature trees that have been growing for nearly a century. It's one of the city's protected historic districts and homeowners here take the appearance of their properties seriously.

A dead or leaning tree in Amarillo can come down fast when the spring thunderstorms roll through the Texas Panhandle. The hard, dry soil out here — especially in older neighborhoods like English Village and Wolflin — doesn't hold roots the way softer ground does, so trees that look stable can fail after a long dry spell followed by a hard rain. Cottonwoods, elms, and hackberries planted in the 1970s and 1980s are getting old, and a lot of them are starting to show it.
